The handles on your doors are worn out over time and will need to be replaced. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.

When br/>A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of a attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to prevent attacks and ensure your doors are secure.

Certain cylinders are constructed to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed with a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a lot faster and less difficult than opening a multipoint lock and leaves little evidence of a break-in, which could hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located inside the base of the door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their original position after use. There was a time when handles did not have a spring built into them and without this they are more likely to slide or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. The addition of this simple element is among the best ways to correct this issue and is an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in an open or closed position, since they are not always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes were created to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They have a square cut out which allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually.
