The X1 Omni's main draw is its enormous dock which doubles as a charging base and housing for two 4 liter water tanks, a clean sink, and a 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically empties.

The base also has a number of buttons to control the system. These allow you to start cleaning or recall the robot or run the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two of the buttons to turn off a child lock, which is a nice option for parents concerned about their children playing with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to spot obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will steer clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system maps your home 10 times faster than standard laser detection systems and is four times more precise in recognizing objects.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could sometimes get so entangled with an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and stops working until you manually free it. While it was not common but it was a very frustrating experience when it did happen particularly since the X1 Omni does not have a "stuck" status alert on its app.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad, except that mopping pads don't get washed or dried between uses. This can lead to mildew and mold.

On the bright side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot vacuum reviews thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a huge difference from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an excellent choice for an industry dominated by boxes.
