They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot hoover and mop's performance when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors tohas advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum that mops we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
