The robots that vacuum and mop also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you own a lot furniture. Finally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic vacuum and mop spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
