Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the degree of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode.
