The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops

Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst for Good Housekeeping's Home Care and Cleaning Lab.

He evaluates and tests cleaning appliances, focusing on robot vacuums and mopping combos. These multitaskers are an excellent option for those looking to get mopping off their to-do list. They have impressive mapping capabilities and obstacles-avoiding capabilities, and they can even wash and refill their mopping pads for a hands-off clean.

The Eufy S1 Pro

If you're looking for a robotic vacuum that can also mop, this is the model to go for. It is smaller than other models which makes it easier to maneuver into tight spaces or under furniture. It has a 220 degree Lidar that, combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers some of my favorite navigation and avoidance capabilities I've seen in the form of a robotic autonomous vacuum. It packs a powerful 4600mAh battery that can last for up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can last longer in turbo). It will even return to its dock to replenish its battery in mid-clean.

It's very efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It cleans the carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and the hardwood floors in the hallways, and living room in a single sweep. The suction motor's 8,000pa will quickly pick up dirt, droppings, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects rugs and the double side brushes help to clean debris from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, is not as effective. The mop rotates quickly and uses 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm extends out a little more than other robots that vacuum and mop. This is helpful when you're trying to get into narrow corners or along baseboards. Those same front arms can also be employed to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and fallen books.

Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've ever used. It doesn't produce the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it must use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It's simple to install and is effective however, it's something you'll need to be aware of if you're buying this robot vacuum solely for the purpose of it mopping.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is equipped with a broad array of features that make it an ideal choice for homeowners looking to purchase a highly effective, versatile and ad-hoc cleaning machine.

The device is equipped with a powerful cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This allows it to map out the house, identify furniture and other obstacles. This inft simple to maintain a clean house with minimal effort.

The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, which means it is able to handle mopping and vacuuming. The robot has two modules: a dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping module with microfiber pads that snap into and out of the way. It's not the most modern thing to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping, but it does mean you don't need to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank with water.

Our test subjects found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its most impressive feature was its accurate floorplan which it uses to determine a route when cleaning. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also gives you the option to set "No-Go zones" as well as virtual barriers that help to keep specific areas of your home from being cleaned with a mop.

We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in picking up pet hair. It was able to capture an enormous amount of hair shed by our cats and even was able to get into the nooks and crevices of our stairs while other robots that vacuum and mop struggled. The noise levels of the robot were low and there were nice jingles to inform you that it was starting and getting its work done.

Its biggest drawbacks were its simple app and the requirement to switch out the modules whenever switching between vacuuming and mopping. The app is not able to save multiple maps. This can be a problem if your home has several floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for a smart robot that can do both vacuuming and mopping.

The Yiko X1 Omni

robotic-vacuum-cleaner-cleaning-the-roomThe X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our review, but it also has unique features that make it worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its huge dock, which serves as the robot's charging base and the housing for two 4 liter water tanks, a clean sink as well as the 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically eliminates.

The base has a couple of buttons for control, which allow you to manually start a cleaning task, recall the robot or run the dock’s auto vacuum and mop-emptying procedure. Press two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents who are concerned about their kids messing around with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni, like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to spot obstacles and furniture in its path. It will stay clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally get caught up in an obstruction, such as a power cord draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and stops working until you manually free it. This was a rare incident, but frustrating nonetheless, since the X1 does not have a "stuck status" alert on its application.

Another potential downside is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during cleaning. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad however, the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This can lead to mildew and mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek modern base and mopping pad. It's a big difference from the utilitarian black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in an industry dominated by boxy units.
