The smart key technology found in vehicles allows drivers to unlock and start their car by simply pressing the door handle, or putting the key in the pocket. It also allows for various other adjustments, including the position of the seat, internal temperature settings and mirror positioning.

Smart keys are sophisticated key fobs that are computerized and communicate with a vehicle via one of the antennas built into the car to unlock doors and to start the engine.
