It's the most expensive robot vacuum and mop I've reviewed to date.

The S7 Max Ultra is easy to install straight out of the box. When you plug it into the wall, it will instruct you to map your home with sensors. Then, it will continue to use that data to stay clear of obstacles. In our testing it was able to avoid getting stuck on power cords, long curtains, and even dog toys. It's not perfect and sometimes it is stuck on things like tangled cables or odd toys or books.

You can control the S7 Max Ultra via its smartphone app, which is where you'll find all the sophisticated features that differentiate it from other robotic vacuums and mop machines. This includes room-specific cleaning and mopping settings, a scheduling planner mopping and vacuuming strength selections, and integrations with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for smart home integration. The wide range of features means that the S7 Max Ultra can do almost everything a traditional robot vacuum does but at less than half the price.

The S7 Max Ultra's ability to vacuum is impressive and it did a good job of picking up dirt, pet hair and other debris from carpet and hard flooring. Its automatic dustbin-emptying feature worked flawlessly during our tests, which was very reassuring. It also boasts 5100 Pa HyperForce suction rating, which is significantly higher than the 2,500Pa performance of the S6 MaxV and S7.

The S7 Max Ultra's mopping performance was excellent, but not the most impressive we've seen. It utilized a microfiber mop that can absorb liquids and use sonic vibrating technology to scrub floors up to 3,000 revolutions per minutes. This was quicker than the X1 Omni circular pads that spin at 180 rotations per minute. The S7 Max Ultra’s ReactiveAI 2.0 obstruction recognition system is excellent. In our tests it didn't get stuck on any objects and it steered clear of power cords long curtains, power cords and other obstacles that could be in the way 100% of the time.

The Ecovacs Deebot T9+ (available at The Good Guys for $1279) is among the most self-emptying robot vacuums and mop combos available on the market. It can map out your home, vacuuming and mopping, while finding and staying clear of obstacles. It can even spout an air freshener.

The app creates a digital map of your house which can be used to clean. It's easy to set up. The app allows you to select specific rooms or areas to be cleaned. You can also choose the time of day you'd like it to start working, so your floors are clean while you're asleep or away.

In our tests in our tests, the T9+ was awe-inspiring in its ability to navigate obstacles. However, it has a tendency to take a few errands around the house, which often resulted in it ending up back at the same place it had started cleaning just minutes earlier. It wasn't often however enough to warrant being noticed.

The T9+ includes a wide range of accessories including the robotic cleaner and docking station and an auto-empty station. The mopping unit, as well as the replacement dustbin are sold separately.

This lets it map your house and clean areas, without crashing into furniture or walls. The app allows you to set up zones to indicate areas that need to be cleaned as well as areas that you don't want to be cleaned. You can also set zones for no-mop or no-sweep zones.

IRobot's iAdapt technology 2.0 is an integral part of what makes Combo j7+ smart. The front camera on most of iRobot's robots is used to prevent hazards such as pet waste and power cords. Additionally iAdapt 2.0 allows the Combo j7+ to recognize dirt levels and concentrate on those areas more than others.

When the Combo J7+ senses that it is on a floor that needs to be mopped an arm of a robot with mop pad lifts off from underneath the vacuum. It then sweeps the floor until it is aware that the mopping pads are dry which only takes about 90 minutes.

The Combo J7+ can also sense carpeting, which is great for homes that have a mix of hard floors and rugs. It won't try to push the rug across and instead, it will turn away if it feels it is unable to cross the area without damaging the carpet or itself.

The Combo j7+ is easy to control via the mobile application it is simple and well-designed. It works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa so you can begin cleaning with a voice. The only downside I found was that the Combo j7+'s small water tank means you have to refill it frequently or limit its mopping to smaller areas, and run it in eco-mode more frequently.

The Combo j7+ has a tiny dust bin that you must empty manually. The Combo j7+ mop pads are also less efficient than other brands. This is a pity as this robot is otherwise a great machine.
