This model that is wet-dry is fitted with Ecovacs' upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system, which offers improved mapping and obstacle avoidance. The system is dual-laser LiDAR similar to the kind you'd find in self-driving cars and is able to scan up to 32 feet wide by 270 degrees. This means more precise mapping as well as faster response time and greater cleaning accuracy.

It also comes with an alternating mopping mat made of chenille, making it much easier to scrub hard-to-clean areas than traditional mopping. During my tests the X2 Omni washed its pad in less than a second and then got to work. I noticed that it was more precise than other models which seemed to follow a grid around rooms. In our tests of hardwood floors and kibble it performed well and picked up everything from a single grain of rice to multiple pieces of dog food in just one pass. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning feature that increases suction to tackle the most difficult spills or dirt. It also has a battery-powered ElectroWall to establish boundaries for the robot.

This budget-friendly option from a well-known brand is the most affordable robot we've tested to date and offers an outstanding value for money. Its navigation system is basic and uses an extremely basic random pathing algorithm, but it doesn't have room mapping capabilities, which makes it less time efficient than other models on this list. However it's still able navigate under furniture and into corners, and its mopping mode performed well during our tests, picking up stray pet hair and other debris with ease.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ isn't quite as robust as the Roomba S9, but it does a better job overall in cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It does a better job of cleaning carpets with low piles as well as bare floors. It also makes use of intelligent-pathing navigational software to improve mobility. It also lets you transfer it to a particular room, and its advanced set of automation features include no-go zones as well as scheduling. It lets you pause and resume cleaning which is ideal for homes that have pets.

Its self-cleaning brushroll prevents tangles with pet hair and other debris, and its bagless self-emptying dock station can store up to 30 days of dirt prior to needing to be empty. It has a set of angled side brushes that can reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system to capture dust, allergens and dander.
