Item upgrades are a key aspect of preparing your character. Upgrades increase the base damage and enchantments of items.

They also provide bonus effects and enhancements. They can be acquired from the Blacksmith.

The upgrade button is available on any item. Every item upgrading recycled adds a level to the upgrade gauge.

Weapon

When the weapon is upgraded it will gain an initial damage bonus, as well as a scaling factor that can affect other stats. The magic of the enchanted Scepter appears to affect the dungeon and increase the likelihood of producing water and grass. At its current level this trinket will make X% of regular floors become filled with water or grass, but it doesn't affect enchantments, the glyphs, cursed weapons, armor, or items generated to solve hazard rooms.

While it appears like an ordinary eye of a newt, this mysterious item appears to affect your vision in ways beyond merely reducing your field of view. At the moment, this trinket boosts the overall health gained from drinking potions of healing, waterskins, and wells of health by X%. It also grants eyesight on enemies within the Y tiles. This does not stack with the Heightened Senses.

After completing the Mastery Cave, you can find Trinkets by taking on Monsters and inside crates and chests in Skull Cavern. They are not found in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.

Place the trinket into the Anvil when it needs to be upgraded. This will have an unintended effect on the trinket either extending its lifespan or enhancing its effects. You can reforge the Trinket multiple times as often as you wish, however it will always have an effect that is different from the one that it had when you made it.

You can upgrade your Trinkets in the Alchemy Station by placing them into a Magical Catalyst. This will cost you 6 energy, however it will increase the power of the trinkets by a tiny amount.
