What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?

Upgrade items are a particular kind of item upgrader that can help Pokemon evolve. They are made available by spinning Pokestop photo discs, and sometimes as rewards for events that are related to evolution.

Upgrade components

They can be retrieved from the equipment they're in using an Upgrade Extraction Device or by salvaging them with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Other upgrade options, such as glyphs and inscriptions, may be added to or removed from the gathering tools. They can have a variety of bonus effects such as increasing the speed of gathering or bringing in more materials. Inscriptions can also modify the name of an item, for instance changing an item's name to "Fiery Sword" when you add a Sword Pommel of Fortitude inscription, or by adding a Rune of Minor Vigor suffix to make it 'Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor'.

Glyphs

Glyphs symbolize a concept or idea using symbols in character. A glyph could be an icon or a drawing such as an eagle or heart. These symbols can also be used to create an entire visual language. Additionally, a glyph can have a standardized code that is used to refer to it across fonts. This code is referred to as a Unicode.

The shape of glyphs dictates what Primary Stats and Secondary Stats can be added. Some glyphs will have both Secondary and Primary Stat bonuses, while others have only one or the other. The glyphs that have both Primary and secondary stats will add to the stats of the entire unit, while glyphs with only one Primary Stat bonus increase the stats.

Utilizing glyphs is simple. Click and hold on the text insertion to bring up the Glyphs Panel, and then choose the glyph you want to use. View All Glyphs lets you see the complete list of glyphs.
