Buying a Pram Newborn

Find a pram that allows your baby to travel in the recommended lying-flat position. This position supports your baby and prevents the development of a risky curvature in their spine that could cause spinal issues. By keeping the airways open, it reduces the risk for SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams that can be used from birth will include a seat unit that will recline into a lie-flat pram position for infants and convert into a pushchair seat unit for older children.

The suspension of a pram will determine how smooth it runs. A pram with many suspensions is likely to be more expensive but it could be worth it to purchase this feature if you plan to use your pram every day for a few years or longer.

You should always take the time to read the instruction manual and examine the warning labels for your pram or stroller. You should also make sure that your stroller is parked in a safe spot away from traffic, bicycles or other hazards when it isn't being used. It is also important to remove any bags or other items from the handles, as they can cause your baby to get caught or choke.

Even if your baby is asleep, it's never an ideal idea to leave a pram or stroller unattended. They may squirm into the pram and become trapped, or it could be pushed away and cause injuries. Hanging bags or other objects from the handles is not recommended as they can fall and strike your child on the head.

Comfort

Having the option of lie flat seating is an absolute necessity for babies, since it aids in better lung and back development. Cocoons or carriers are available on a variety of prams. They create a nest-like space that is a comfortable place for your baby and can be removed easily from the frame. Some seats, such as the bucket-style seat found on the egg2, can't be reclined completely flat, but offer an enjoyable ride for your child.

Some prams also feature an extra bassinet, newborn stroller or inset seat so that you can easily switch between sitting and sleeping modeaptors so that you can move your baby between the car and the pushchair without needing to get them up. These are useful when you live a busy lifestyle or don't have a sufficient space for pram capsules, but it's worth keeping in mind that your baby will need to be old enough and able to sit up on their own before you can change them from car capsule to pram.

Another feature to consider is the possibility of raising and lowering your infant's seat from a low to high setting, which keeps eye contact with them and keeps them close to you, something that our parent tester found was very useful for her 10-month old boy! Also, ensure that your pram newborn has a sturdy base and wheels that are able to handle potholes and bumps. Also, make sure you can fold it down easily and ensure that the safety harness is in good working order that fits comfortably and securely (five-point instead of three-point) and is adjustable as your child grows. You should also be able put your shopping bags and changing bags inside the basket beneath (although keep in mind that putting on too much weight can cause it to tip over).
