WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade items also increases the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrading upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item upgrade level, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item level upgrade has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an Item Level upgrade upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.
