The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops

Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.

He conducts tests and reviews of cleaning appliances. His focus is on mopping robots and vacuum combinations. These multitaskers can be ideal for those looking to eliminate mopping from their list of things to do. Some have great mapping capabilities and obstacles avoidance. Others even wash and refill mopping pads themselves to ensure a hands-free clean.

The Eufy S1 Pro

This is the model to choose if you want an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It is smaller than other models and makes it more maneuverable in tight corners or under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers some of my favorite navigation and avoidance capabilities I've seen in a robotic vacuum. It comes with a massive 4600mAh battery which lasts up to 170-minutes, if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can last longer in turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery mid-clean.

It's very fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It cleans the carpeted rooms extremely quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, hallways, and living room in one go. The motor's 8,000pa power allows it to pick up dirt as well as pet hair and droppings easily. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects carpets and the dual side brush assists in removing debris from corners.

The mopping performance is less impressive, but not by a lot. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and utilizes 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arms stick out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful for getting into tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to sweep larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys and books.

Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've tried. It doesn't make the same amount of noise while vacuuming or mopping and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It's easy to install and is effective however, this is something that you'll have to be aware of when you purchase this vacuum for the sole reason of mopping.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums which mops in its class. It is a powerful cleaner with a wide range of features.

The device comes with an impressive and powerful cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map your home and locate furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean methodically and efficiently. This will ensure an efficient and consistent cleaning and is also fast.

The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad can reach a variety of surfaces. These include corners or baseboards, as well as other hard-to-reach spots. The side brush can be stretched to reach the floor close to the walls or other fixtures. The mop pyour home tidy with little effort.

The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is an all-in-one vacuum and mop. It is able to perform mopping and vacuuming. The robot comes with two modules: a combined dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping unit with microfiber pads that snap into and out of position. It's not the most modern thing to have separate modules for mopping and vacuuming, but it does mean that you don't have to fret about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.

Our test participants discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its most impressive feature was its precise map of your floorplan, which it uses to determine the path to follow when cleaning. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs, and other obstacles. The app also offers the option of setting "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers that help to protect certain areas of your house from being scrubbed with mop.

The Matrix Plus also did a remarkable job at picking up hair of pets. It was able to capture a lot of the hair our cats shed, and even made it into the corners and crevices of our stairs where other robots have struggled. The noise levels of the best robot hoover were low, and there were some pleasant jingles to signal that it was starting and getting its work done.

The app was too basic and you had to switch the modules every time you changed between mops and vacuuming. The app cannot keep multiple maps. This could be an issue if your house has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for a smart robot that is capable of vacuuming and mopping.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot cleaner vacuum is the most expensive of our review. However, it has certain unique features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is most notable for its huge dock that doubles as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses a 2.5-liter dust bin and the 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base also has a variety of control buttons that allow you to start cleaning or recall the robot vacuum cleaners best or run the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two of the buttons to switch on the child lock which is a great touch for parents worried about children playing with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums the Omni Omni uses its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally get caught up in an obstruction, such as a power cord draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you free it. This is a rare event however, it was a bit frustrating because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert in its app.

The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad, except that the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This can cause mildew and mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot cleaner with mop thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a significant change from the utilitarian all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing view in a market that is dominated by bulky, boxy units.robotic-vacuum-cleaner-cleaning-the-room
