World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

The item upgrade feature allows players to increase the item level for weapons that can be equipped or armor. This improves the stats of that equipment, in addition to sometimes adding buffs or rolling an affix again.

It is important to keep in mind that upgrading common gear is not always worth it. Rare and unique gear will soon surpass upgraded magic and common equipment.

Cost

The player must spend gold to upgrade an item. The cost of upgrading an item is contingent on its current level as well as the type of upgrade selected. For instance, upgrading a weapon will typically be cheaper than upgrading armor, as weapons have lower level requirements. The amount of Gold required for upgrading increases as the item is upgraded to an upper level.

The item upgrade system in World of Warcraft provides players with the ability to upgrade the levels of weapons, armor, and trinkets. This process is very similar to the process used for gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but instead of using the appropriate currency players must visit an NPC for upgrading items to complete the process.

This is useful for obtaining better rolls on items that are already upgraded, but could be a waste of money.

Requirements

The process of upgrading equipmentable items like weapons, armor and trinkets is to increase the level of the item. This can boost their stats, making them more powerful in battle. Players can upgrade their equipment by spending the appropriate amount of currency at an upgrader. However, they should be aware that some upgrades have specific requirements.

The first upgrades increase the stats of the item's base by one level, Item upgrading but later upgrades offer more substantial boosts. Upgrades from level 3 to 6 will boost the weapon's damage plus two levels. A bonus stat will also be added to the upgraded item based on its level. This item upgrades prior to investing money or effort.

Each upgrade increases the base stat of an item by a specific amount, and also gives a chance for a bonus stat increase. The random substat can vary from a modest boost to a much larger boost.
