WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item upgrades by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item level upgrade that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They are purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and Item Level Upgrade a possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or Item Level Upgrade complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Another important modification is that crests have one purpose therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance it's Best item upgrade to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making.
