This robot vacuum-mop is an excellent option for flat dwellers, as it carries the rubbish away in its own bin, and also uses an incredibly small docking station. Its app lets you set up different modes and monitor cleaning. The mopping feature is also very impressive.

Its mapping capabilities and obstacle avoidance are impressive, while it mops very well, picking up pet hair, spillages and dirt. It also self-empties, cleans itself and refills its tank.

iRobot Roomba Combo

The iRobot Combo includes mopping in addition to the already impressive vacuuming capabilities of the robot. It's not quite enough to take the place of our reigning Editors' Choice, the Deebot X1 Omni, which is more efficient and has an app that is easier to use on mobile devices but it does make an excellent alternative. In our tests it was able to pick up dirt of all kinds and sizes from carpets and hard floors. Its obstacle avoidance system isn't the most advanced in the world, and isn't equipped with structured light and other technology like LiDAR, but it still managed to prevent most collisions with furniture and clutter.

The Combo has many of the same smarts that the j7 Plus includes, such as an the onboard acoustic sensor that can determine the type of floor and AI-powered Navigation, however it lacks the ability control suction power using a hand. It's also smaller than the vac-only model, and doesn't come with an auto-emptying dock.

The Combo is one of my favorite options for most homes. Its elegant design is also among the most attractive I've seen in the market. The clean, matte black plastic looks superior to the competition's glossy or Robot Vacuum Cleaners Best metallic finishes, and iRobot's little features--like a leather tab that can open the bin onboard and a shelf inside the dock to store extra bags--are classier than a lot of its rivals'. The iRobot Combo also allows you to create maps of your home, as well as to set up Keep-Out Zones, No-Mop Zones and Clean Zones.

Based on LiDAR technology, it creates maps of your home that can be programmed to vacuum or mop. It can also detect the difference between hard floors and carpets, so that you don't end up with puddles on a precious pile.

Its navigation is excellent, avoiding furniture or rugs easily. It can even lift itself up over steps. The robot is programmable by adjusting different settings, such as cleaning schedules as well as the rooms it will clean. It also has an emergency button' that causes the robot to return home if its power runs out. It can be programmed to turn off automatically if a storm approaches.
