Remove the Door

Installing an interior set of bifold doors could seem like a complex and challenging project, but it's actually quite simple for anyone with a bit of experience. The frame is not the issue, but getting the doors to fold and close smoothly is. As bifold doors are complex machines, they might require some tweaking to ensure they are functioning properly. It could be as simple as tightening the screw, or as complicated as removing and replacing the pivot pin or roller.

You can usually fix these issues with some minor adjustments without having to remove the doors. You may find that your doors are sagging or scratching the floor, or that they're bouncing off their track. The solution to these issues isn't difficult. With three simple steps the bifold doors will be back on track in the blink of an eye.

One of the most frequent issues that internal bifold doors have to face is the tendency to slide out of alignment. This could be due to loose screws, holes in the anchor/pivot pins, or simply a misaligned door. Most times this can be fixed by making a few minor adjustments. However, if your door doesn't move at all, you may have to replace it.

To take the door off to open it, you'll require an appropriate screwdriver, and possibly pliers (to assist in loosening any pins that are tight to pivot). The screwdriver can be used to release any locking levers that are on the bottom bracket for pivoting and the pliers let you wiggle the pin and take it off.

In addition to a new top guide for rollers, you'll require a small amount of Elmer's wood glue, which is sold in the big box stores and a squeeze clamp.
