The item upgrade feature allows players to increase the item level for equippable weapons or armor. This increases the power of the equipment, in addition to sometimes adding buffs or rerolling an affix.

It is important to keep in mind that upgrading your magic and common gear isn't always worth it. Unique and rare equipment can quickly outperform the standard equipment and upgraded magic.

Cost

The player has to spend gold to upgrade an item. The cost of upgrading an item depends on the current level of the item and type of upgrade. Upgrades to weapons are generally less expensive than upgrades to armor, since weapons have lower requirements. The amount of Gold required for upgrading increases as the item upgrader kit is upgraded to an upper level.

An upgraded item will also have increased stats, which can improve its performance in many ways. This includes increasing the power of its attack, critical strike chance, or item upgrader damage per second. An upgraded item may also provide additional buffs to the unit it's equipped with. These upgrades are able to boost the overall strength of a group or individual unit, and can have a significant impact on the gameplay.

Items can be upgraded by any item upgrader NPC in the game. These NPCs can be found in major questing areas or item upgrader capital cities. You can also find item-upgraders by visiting dungeons with high-level bosses and talking to NPCs in garrisons of your faction.

The upgrade system for items in World of Warcraft provides players with the option of upgrading the level of weapons, armor, and trinkets. This process is very similar to the process used for gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but instead of using the currency that is appropriate players must visit an item upgrader NPC to complete the process.

Item upgrades can be expensive, particularly when it comes to weapons and armor. Based on the upgrade track you choose, each item upgrade can cost Valorstones or Crests. The total costs can be very prohibitive for players who don't have the funds or aren't willing to grind them.

Fortunately the game lets players play a reroll of an upgraded item upgrader kit by using an additional tool available in the menu of items. This option will replace the upgraded item with a level 1 version that has different bonuses. This can help you get better rolls on items that have already been upgraded, but it can also be a waste of money.

Requirements

The process of upgrading equipmentable items like weapons, armor and trinkets is to raise the level of the item. This increases their stats and can make them more effective in battle. Players can also find upgraded items using an Upgrade extractor, or salvage with a high-tier salvage kit. Glyphs that are positioned on tools for gathering can be swapped freely.

The player can transform an item into another upgradeable item by selecting it and pressing the green button with a reroll arrow. This will change the layout of the item window and allow players to choose up to six items to "recycle". The item will be replaced with an item of level 1. Rerolled items will not retain their status, nor will the resources used to upgrade them.

An item's maximum upgrade level is determined by its tier and the quality. Rare items can be upgraded to a maximum of level six while Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to level nine. Upgrades to items are added to the base statistics of the item and won't increase after a specific point.
