Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other modenomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, Best Robot Hoover but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
