Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item upgrades or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Usually objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They provide an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests and missions. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item upgrader kit in the game, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.

There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the Best item upgrader they are attached to, for example adding an Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph by another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from earlier versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of these items, instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

This will allow the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Eneble items have a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level that has been filled.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you'd be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each statistic. This could be good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may be equipped with a special bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater chances of obtaining an exclusive bonus.

The game also includes number sets that grant an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on a unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players opt to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can give players a faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They can be different sizes, contain none of the elements, or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or separating information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.

There are a range of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while some aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, weapon upgrades often do not boost the item's stats much in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.

Certain set items are upgraded for their own special functions that can be useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level as their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items can improve their defense, and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

Clicking the upgrade item button will show the attributes of the item and the required items to upgrade it. It will show the item's attributes, along with the required items to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the requirements for upgrading specific items.

Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant improvement in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
