Saab Key Programming

Saab cars made since 1994 have an immobilizer feature built on coded keys. A new transponder is required to allow the addition of an extra key, as well as special programming. This is usually done by the dealer with a specialized Tech2 diagnostic tool.

The problem is that this could be quite costly. It is always advisable to keep an extra set of keys in your possession.

Transponder key

The transponder key comes equipped with an electronic chip. It sends a signal back to the car when it is put into the ignition. The car then analyzes the signal to determine whether it is the same as that of the key. If the signals are in sync, the car will unlock and begin. This is an excellent way to guard your car against theft.

Transponder keys are a popular feature in automobiles, however you should be aware that they're not as secure as traditional keys made of metal. While the metal part of a traditional key can be cut and copied however, a transponder is secured by an electronic chip. The chip is a unique code that is inserted into a car's computer order to identify it.

The car will recognize the Saab keyfob, and allow it to be turned on. However, it can only do this if the fob has an unmodified chip that has been programmed to match the original. In the absence of that, the car will reject the key and not start.

It is important to have a spare saab car key key. This is especially important when you live in a rural region where there are a lot of car burglars. You can get a new key for your Saab by visiting the dealership without paying pricey cost. You can have a replacement key created on the spot for less than half of the price you'd spend at an auto dealer.

Wired key

saab key code cars typically come with two keys when they're new. If you only have one, you should get an additional key as quickly as you can. This is because if the key is lost the car will require a new CIM and the locking cylinders replaced. This could be expensive particularly if you are buying a second-hand car.

The next step is to connect the wires of the column and row to the microcontroller. This is the most tedious part of the project, and will require a lot of soldering. There isn't a standard method to do it, but you should consider how you will connect and solder each column and row. For this keyboard, there are five rows and 17 columns. So there will be 22 microcontroller wires and pins to connect.

After the columns and rows are soldered, it's time to connect them to key switches. To do this you must place a diode across each pin on the key switch and solder it. This will protect the pins on the key switch from current and keep them from being shorted. A diode can only allow the flow of current to be in one direction, and it has a black band visua the original one that works requires the installation and programming of a brand new computer chip.

Replacement case

Saab owners usually have only one car key, and if that is lost, they'll be charged. It's expensive to add keys and will require replacing the CIM or TWICE in the case of older models. It is recommended to have a backup key in the event of theft or other disaster the best solution is to purchase an extra key as quickly as you can. But don't buy a used key even it's "new." Claimed-new keys from sellers selling aftermarket keys won't work and are almost guaranteed to fail at the critical moment.

The dealer will charge you the highest dollars if you only have one working key. However, we can reset and re-program your computer's EEPROM to prepare it to accept the new key without having to replace the entire system. This could save you a great deal of money. It's also cheaper than waiting until you lose your only key.
