The S1 Pro has excellent navigation and mapping, due to the internal dToF system. It is able to maintain an unobtrusive appearance while providing top-notch object detection. It can drive close to walls without crashing, and avoiding steps, and it also automatically raises its mop when it drives over rugs and carpets with a short pile. It struggled a bit when it encountered longer-pile carpets and also there were a few large, thick messes with dried-on debris.

Like most robots, the S1 Pro comes ready to come out of the box and only requires an initial mapping session to learn its way around your home. Once it's done, the map is displayed in the app and rooms can be added or joined depending on the need. You can also set virtual boundaries and no-go zones if there's something you don't want the robot to get into.

The S1 Pro is a great choice for homes with flooring of both types, because it can mop and vacuum.
