The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best rated robot vacuum robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide better cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the automatic vacuum and mop's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, best robot hoover Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
