1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a good option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it is full.

Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ or top rated Robot vacuum other top rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station, automatically emptying its dirt into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes about three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or by voice.

In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our top choice which was the eufy best robovac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilizedt quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back again.

This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to vacuum the majority of an average-sized house but not long enough to cover every spot (though the second time around usually can be effective). That's not to say this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is better on carpets with low pile.

One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is a basic model that's a good choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a affordable robot vacuum. It's capable of sucking up all types of debris and sizes during our tests, and it frequently goes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our Top Rated robot vacuum picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often runs out of battery power before returning to its base.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and is more effective on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that is seen on a variety of home electronics It's no surprise that they're one of the most reputable robot cleaning machine vacuum and mop manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app gives you plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tried which could be a deterrent for some buyers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. The app allows you to modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. For instance my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
