WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrades by 3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item upgrading is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgrader mod upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require several methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available after cert instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
