However, unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include getting rid of any toys or clutter it may come across. We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robote for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to cover every spot (though a second run-through usually can be effective). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's a good choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris in our testing and often went over the same area several times for an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top picks such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often runs out of battery power before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself.
