World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

The feature of upgrading items allows players to increase the item level of equippable weapons or armor. This improves the stats and sometimes adds buffs or rerolls to an attach.

It is important to remember that upgrading magic and common gear is not always worth the cost. Unique and rare equipment can quickly outperform upgraded magic and common equipment.

Cost

When a player decides to upgrade an item, they have to spend Gold to do so. The cost to upgrade an item depends on the item's current status and type of upgrade. Upgrades to weapons are typically cheaper than upgrades for armor because weapons have lower requirements. The amount of Gold needed increases as an item is upgraded.

Upgraded items will also have upgraded stats that will improve its performance in different ways. This could include increasing its attack power critical strike chance, or damage per second. Additionally an upgraded item might be able to offer additional buffs to the unit it is equipped with. These upgrades can be utilized for a number of reasons such as to increase the overall strength of an individual or group unit. They also can be a significant influence on gameplay.

The items can be upgraded at any NPC that is an upgrader in the game. In general, these NPCs are located in capital cities or major questing areas. Players can also find upgraders when they visit dungeons with high-level bosses, and by talking to the NPCs in their garrisons of their faction.

The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to increase the level of weapons, armor and trinkets. This process is very similar to the process used for gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but instead of using the currency appropriate to the task players need to visit an NPC for upgrading items to complete the process.

Upgrades can be expensive especially for armor and weapons. Depending on which upgrade track you choose, each item level increase will cost Valorstones or Crests. The cost can be prohibitive for players who don't have the funds, or are unwilling to grind.

The game lets you roll a new item by with a special tool in the menu of items. This option lets you exchange the upgraded item for a level 1 version with a different set of bonus effects. This can be useful to get better scores on items that have already been upgraded, but could be a waste of money.

Requirements

The process of upgrading equippable items such as weapons, armor and trinkets is to increase the item level. This increases their power and makes them more effective in combat. Players can upgrade their gear by paying the appropriate currency at an upgrader. Players should be aware of the fact that some upgrades require specific requirements.

Early upgrades only increase the power of the base item by one level. Later upgrades give significant boosts. Upgrades from level 3 to 6 will boost the weapon's damage plus two levels. A bonus stat will be added to the upgraded item based on its level. The bonus is a combination of a guarantee extra substat and a random stat that will vary in value from upgrade to upgrade.

A player can Reroll an upgraded Item upgrading rewards players with a variety of items and currency. In addition, each upgrade can give a random stat bonus. The value of the bonus is different for every upgrade, and is typically higher for rarer items. The players can perform the Great Vault search to see whether an item is upgradeable prior to spending tickets. The search can also determine whether the item is of the appropriate level and if the player could benefit from a particular upgrade.

During the process of upgrading an item will gradually increase to the next level, but won't always reach a full upgrade bar. This process consumes Growthstones and Sollant and Sollant, but there's an opportunity to get a fully upgraded item with only one cycle of growth. The higher the levels an item attains the more stat value will be, and the more items that can be upgraded.

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to gain an attribute bonus, or a special effect, while the equipment is being worn. Some upgrade components also have cosmetic effects. Upgrade components can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors or the Trading Post, looting or receiving as a gift. Players can also find upgraded items using an upgrade extractor or salvaging with a high-tier salvage kit. Glyphs that are positioned on gathering tools are able to be swapped.

By selecting the item and pressing the green button, which has an arrow that rerolls the player can reroll it into another upgradeable item. This will alter the layout and allow players to select up to six items for "recycling". The item will be replaced by a level 1 item. Recycled items will not keep their status, nor will the resources used to upgrade them.

The maximum level of upgrade for an item is determined by the item's level and its quality. Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to levels up to nine, while common items can only be upgraded to level six. The item upgrades are added to the base statistics of the item. This means that they won't increase more after a certain point.
