The item upgrade feature allows players to increase the item level for weapons that can be equipped or armor. This improves the stats and can also add buffs or rerolls on an attach.

It is important to note that although you can upgrade magic and other common equipment, it's generally not worth the effort. Rare and unique gear will quickly outclass upgraded magic and common gear.

Cost

The player must pay gold to upgrade an item. The cost of upgrading an item varies based on the item's current status and the type of upgrade. Upgrades to weapons are typically cheaper than upgrades to armor, since weapons have lower requirements. The amount of Gold required for upgrading an item increases as the item is upgraded.

A newly upgraded item will also have improved stats, which can boost its performance in various ways. This could include boosting its attack strength or critical strike chance. A upgraded item can also add additional benefits to the weapon it is equipped with. These upgrades are able to increase the overall strength of a unit or a single unit, and could be a major influence on the gameplay.

Any item upgrader NPC can be found in the game. These NPCs can be found in major questing areas, or capital cities. Players can also find upgraders by visiting dungeons with high-level bosses and by chatting with NPCs in their garrisons for their faction.

The World of Warcraft item upgrade system lets players increase the level of their weapons, armor, and trinkets. You can check the time required to complete an upgrade item by opening your inventory and selecting the weapon, ship or other accessory. The upgrade window will show the expected completion date and progress. In some cases you may be able speed up the process of upgrading by using a Glyph.

Black Lion Salvage or Ascended Salvage offer a salvage kit which allows you to salvage all or part of the upgrade components. However, this does not include legendary equipment and upgrades, which can only be recovered by using an Upgrade Extractor or by reclaiming them with the corresponding karma merchant.

Rewards

The upgrading of items provides players with currency and a range of items. Each upgrade also has the chance to grant an random stat bonus. The amount of bonus awarded is different for each upgrade, and it's typically higher for items that are rarer. The players can perform a Great Vault search to see whether an item can be upgraded prior to spending tickets. The search will help determine whether the item upgrading is of a particular tier and whether the player would benefit by a particular upgrade.

In the process of upgrading the item Upgrader kit will gradually increase to the next level, however, it isn't always able to reach the fully upgraded bar. This process makes use of Growthstones and Sollant but there's an 80% chance of getting an upgraded item in just one cycle. The higher the levels an item attains, the higher its stats will be and the more items can be upgraded.

Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is being used. Some upgrade components have additional cosmetic effects. Upgrade components are available through crafting, purchasing from vendors or the Trading Post, looting or receiving them as gifts. Players can also find upgraded items by using an upgrade extractor or salvaging with a high tier salvage kit. Glyphs, which are placed in gathering tools are able to be swapped without any restrictions.

The player can transform an item into another upgradeable item by selecting it and pressing the green button an arrow that indicates reroll. This will alter the layout of the game and let players select up to six items for "recycling". The item will be replaced by an item of level 1. Rerolled items won't retain their status or the amount of resources used to upgrade them.

The highest level of upgrade an item can achieve is determined by its quality and tier. Common items can be upgraded up to a maximum of level six while Rare and Epic items can be upgraded up to level nine. The item upgrades are added to the base stats of the item. This means that they won't grow more after a certain point.
