The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and robot mop efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the automatic vacuum cleaner and mop's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, robot mop navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Also the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
