Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a nationwide shortage of medications to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing problems as well as an increased demand in the world.

Our service is able to offer private ADHD testing as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our fees for assessments include the cost of one prescription.

A thorough evaluation of your ADHD symptoms will be conducted by a highly experienced consultant Psychiatrist. This will include an examination of your medical history as well as an assessment using the standard ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

After your assessment, you will be informed that medication may be beneficial for your specific situation. This will be discussed at your follow up appointment (which can be scheduled in person, via video link or by phone). Your physician will go over the different options for medication available. If you decide to start taking medication, we will help you to titrate your dose to ensure the best balance of benefits and side effects for you.

This is a process which can take several weeks and involves adjusting the dosage of your child's medication slowly until the right balance is reached. It's not uncommon to have to titrate as high as three different medicines before you find the one that best fits your child's ADHD. Parents must be involved in this titration adhd process and keep an eye on their child's behavior so that they can let the doctor know whether the medication is working or causing side effects.

If you decide to return to NHS care, your medication will be provided with an individual prescription that you'll need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in the consultation fee). You must attend regular appointments every six months to monitor your medication, which includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual exams are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the assessment is completed, you will be able to schedule follow up appointments with your psychiatrist, if necessary. The appointment is usually done through a zoom video call. However, in some instances, it could be possible to have an audio-only consultation to be conducted (again with an additional cost).

At this point, we will discuss any treatment options we have and decide on a custom-made ADHD medication titration strategy. This will include a review and discussion of your medication dosage, as well as any side effects that you might be experiencing. The cost of these titration consultations is PS150 for face to face sessions and PS60 for online or phone video consultations. The cost of medication is additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

The doctor will also ask yopart of their journey. It can be difficult to get an appointment with a psychiatrist on the NHS. NHS waiting lists can be extremely long and GPs may be reluctant to refer their patients to specialist services.

One way to get around this is to ask your GP to refer you through Right to Choose (see psychiatry-uk and ADHD 360). You can choose a service that provides a private assessment service and titration adhd. This can reduce your wait time considerably and can be more convenient when you are working and have a hectic schedule.

Once you've been diagnosed, your doctor will assess you to determine if you need medication titration. You will be asked to fill out forms that vary by provider but the most common ones are self-report forms and medical histories from childhood and adulthood. These will help your clinician identify any factors that might mean you shouldn't take ADHD medication if prescribed.

If you are being titrated, the medication will be a combination stimulants and nonstimulant medications. They will be assessed and monitored to determine the most suitable combination for you. The titration process may be lengthy and may require some additional appointments before you're stable on your dosage.

Based on the type of medication you're taking, follow up appointments will be either monthly or quarterly. Your doctor will ensure whether you are stable on the medication, note any side effects that you've experienced, and make any necessary adjustments to ensure you remain on a safe dose. You will be required to attend an annual review and a regular health check-up that includes pulse, blood pressure, and weight measurements.

Some patients may be content with their treatment and therefore do not need to discuss their titration process further. However, for those who require further discussions regarding their titration and treatment plans, it's possible to be referred back to the same private clinic that made their initial assessment.
