3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheeler is ideal for off-road walking & dealing with terrain from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They can also be easier to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than 4-wheel models.

Stability

Four-wheel buggies, with their centre of gravity balanced by your child's weight in the seat, are generally more stable than three-wheelers. Three-wheel buggies are still worth considering as they can handle anything from rough terrain to busy streets.

For a buggy that's easy to control and will not fall over on bumpy pavements, look for a model with large rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. A stroller with three wheels isn't easy to maneuver because of its wide frame. It is more difficult to get through narrow spaces and doorways than a 4-wheeler. However, some manufacturers have tackled this issue by implementing an innovative design that makes the wheels flip upwards when not being used, which reduces their overall size and allows you to get through doorways with ease.

You'll also have to consider whether the buggy you choose to use is suitable for your child from birth, or if you're thinking of using it in conjunction with an infant car seat or carry cot. If so, check for the ability to lie flat and if the design is compatible with other seats and buggy boards (if you're planning to put the toddler to the buggy). A majority of 3-wheelers can fold flat, and then be put up in a upright position. This is a good option if you only have a small boot space or a small amount of storage space at home. Some 3 wheeler pushchair-wheelers require you take off the front wheel to fold them into smaller sizes.

Manoeuvrability

Three-wheeled buggies are more maneuverable than strollers with four wheels. A lot of them feature a swivelling wheel on the front that allows you to steer and change direction with one hand. Some also come with a lockable front wheel that can provide the stability you need on rough terrain. Some models can be used with an additible with the most popular second-seats and stroller boards.

The main difference between a fabric sling and a modular seats is that the fabric sling is placed comfortably inside the frame of the buggy as opposed to sitting on top of it like a modular seat would.
